Introducing the WOP Online Learning Programme

GWOPA Secretariat and IHE Delft are glad to announce the first two courses of a brand-new online learning programme for Water Operators Partnerships (WOPs).

Some of the courses are self-paced, which means that you can take them whenever you wish to and complete them at your own pace. Other courses are instructor-led, which means that a course facilitator guides the group of participants through all the phases of the course. Instructor-led courses are run on a specific schedule and there are due dates for assignments and other activities.

GWOPA and IHE are now releasing the first two pilot online courses:

  • How to WOP – Part 1. A self-paced course of an approximate duration of 2,5 hours. Participants will learn the characteristics of a WOP and the principles that shall be followed, including the 6 preparatory steps for engaging in a WOP. This course is open to anyone.
  • Drinking water safety planning. An instructor-led course running for 4 weeks. The workload is approximately 4 hours during the first week, 13 hours in both week 2 and week 3, and 8 hours in the last week. Participants will learn the steps of a water safety plan (WSP), distinguish between urban WSP and WSP for small systems, and actively work on the first draft of a Water Safety Plan for a system of choice. The content of the course is based on revised guidance material produced by the World Health Organization. The course is facilitated by IHE Delft (Dr. Akosua Boakye-Ansah, a.boakye-ansah@un-ihe.org) and GWOPA (Dr. Giuliana Ferrero, giuliana.ferrero@un.org). The first run of this course will take place on 24 October – 18 November. It is open to the partners of the EU-WOP programme and limited to a maximum of 20 course participants. You can register by filling out this form: https://forms.office.com/r/SWuU3Dmj9u Registration will be open until the end of September.
