Special Issue on Water Operators’ Partnerships – Call for papers is now open!

GWOPA and IHE Delft are calling for abstracts for a Special Issue on WOPS in the IWA Journal on Water, Sanitation and Hygiene for Development!

GWOPA/UN-Habitat is collaborating with IHE Delft Institute for Water Education to develop a Special Issue on Water Operators’ Partnerships (WOPs): Principles and Practices. The Special Issue on WOPs will published in the International Water Association (IWA) Journal of Water, Sanitation and Hygiene for Development (JWASHDev).

WOPs are increasingly recognized as solidarity-based instruments to strengthen operational capacities of water and sanitation utilities and to foster knowledge exchange between them. WOPs aim to contribute to the Sustainable Development Goal 6 (SDG 6, clean water and sanitation for all) by expanding and improving the provision of water and sanitation services particularly to the underserved and unserved

The Special Issue on WOPs aims to fill in the existing gap in the literature by providing more critical, yet constructive analysis focused at understanding different dimensions and phenomena of WOPs and how such partnerships work in practice.

In developing this Special Issue, GWOPA and IHE are now seeking to identify teams of two or three authors that will focus on a specific topic or phenomenon related to WOPs. Each writing team will consist of a more academic member and a water utility or sector professional that has experience in working in WOPs.

If you have a writing team and topic for the Special Issue, you can submit your extended abstract through this survey or send it directly to Klaas Schwartz (k.schwartz@un-ihe.org) by 15th September 2022

If you do not have a writing team and you are interested in contributing and joining a writing team, please respond to this survey by 1st September 2022 to help us match your background experience and interest in topics with suitable counterpart (either an academic or practitioner) for an article.
