Water and Climate Summit: on the front line to ensure SDG6 in the face of climate change

GWOPA will participate in the Water and Climate Summit organized by WaterAid in London to call for decisive action in the WASH sector

How to ensure universal access to clean water and sanitation in the context of climate crisis?

To address this question, and ahead of the Glasgow COP 26 International Climate Meeting to be held in November 2020, WaterAid is hosting a major Summit on Water and Climate with HRH The Prince of Wales next 10th March. GWOPA will be represented by Anne Bousquet, who will participate in the policy roundtable of the Summit, the first of its kind.

The discussion will gather experts from governments, climate institutions, private sector, and civil society. It will explore the challenges to be addresses to deliver climate-resilient water and sanitation, with the ultimate goal of reaching a consensus on the changes needed to achieve SDG6. To do so, the participants will discuss the weaknesses holding back the WASH sector’s capacity, the ways to overcome these, and will present practical examples of actions than have helped address these weaknesses.
