Application open for the International Leaders in Urban Governance Programme for African countries (27-31 August 2018 in Singapore)
The programme is jointly organized between the Government of Singapore and UN-HABITAT and encourages mayors, governors, heads of metropolitan regions and provincial governments, policy makers, decision-makers, senior urban practitioners and officials from rapidly urbanizing African cities to attend.
The programme offers a unique opportunity to get ‘hands-on’ experience of Singapore’s successful urban practices and model of urban transformation through site visits, peer-to-peer dialogue and action planning. Participants also receive backstopping from senior practitioners from UN-Habitat and the Government of Singapore in the formulation, development and follow-up of action plans on priority urban challenges for their cities.
The Government of Singapore sponsors programme fees, accommodation, per diem, hospitalization insurance, local airport transfers, and daily transfers to and from the training venue for the duration of the programme. Participants are responsible to cover the costs of their return airfare, visa fees and insurance.
Detailed information about the programme with a list of eligible countries, as well as the application forms and templates relating to the capacity building programme are available online on the UN-Habitat website through the following link: https://unhabitat.org/training-for-city-leaders/
The programme is led by the Capacity Development Unit of UN-Habitat in collaboration with the Center of Liveable Cities of Singapore. Interested candidates from the eligible countries may submit completed application form by 30 June 2018.
