Non Revenue Water (NRW) management

Objectives
In 2010, objective was to promote cooperation between professionals, utilities, municipalities in water sector of Serbia through systematic approach to water loss reduction, i.e. introduction and popularization of the best available methodology developed by Water Loss Group of International Water Association, which was not fully utilized by utility staff in Serbia.

In 2011, after successful promotion of IWA water loss reduction methodology, objective was to promote benefits of WOPs, inter-municipal cooperation and best available methodology in water losses throughout Serbia.

The overall goal of this structured partnership is to initiate sustainable investments in water infrastructure in South Backa District.

Describe the overall results
There is advanced understanding of benefits coming from WOPs, inter-municipal and regional cooperation, but also about numerous advantages within IWA methodology. Significant drive from operational level within utilities is observed to initiate next comprehensive steps in order to integrate additional water topics, along with growing support from utility management and municipal decision makers .
