WOP Mexico Activities

Since the creation of the National WOP Platform in Mexico, hosted by ANEAS, activities in the country have grown and now include WOPs between Mexican operators and with other international operators.

In March the National Association of Water and Sanitation Utilities of Mexico participated in the exploration and Promotion Technical Visit of water and sanitation technologies in Ontario, Canada.

The technical Visit to Swedish, Finnish and Danish Water and Sanitation infrastructure was held in September, with the participation of Water and Sewerage System of León (SAPAL) and Water Commission of Mexican State.

The Mexican Water Utilities: Commission of Drinking Water and Sewerage of the Aguascalientes Municipality (CCAPAMA), State Water and Sanitation Commission of Tabasco (CEAS) and Drinking Water, Sewerage and Sanitation Commission of the Huichapan Municipality (CAPOSA) visited the French operator Société des Eaux de Marseille Citizen in May. 

The Water Operator Partnership (WOP) between San Diego Water Authority and Mexican Utilities: State Water Commission, State of Queretaro (CEA) and Drinking Water, Sewerage and Sanitation Utility of Metepec (OPDAPAS) was held in November. 

In September, Mexican Water Operators: State Water Commission, State of Queretaro (CEA), and Water and Drainage Services of Monterrey ( SADM ), participated in the second meeting of the Latin American Association of Water and Sanitation Operators (ALOAS) in Buenos Aires.

In March was held the Distant-learning training course on managerial and technical capacities for utilities under the virtual intromission scheme between Water System of Mexico City (SACMEX), representatives of UNHabitat, UNAM, and the Mexican Institute of Water Technology (IMTA).

In November was carried out the Technical exchange participation between Mexico and the Nicaraguan Aqueduct and Sewerage Company (ENACAL). Morocco’s National Office of Electricity and Drinking
Water (ONEE) visited Mexico in November to participate in several technical visits.

Water and Drainage Services of Monterrey (SADM) and Atlixco Water Supply and Sewer Operating System (SOAPAMA) participated in the Regional Workshop on Social Responsibility for water and sanitation operators which took place in Uruguay in March.  In July was held in Mexico the Water Operator Partnership (WOP) between National Association of Water and Sanitation Utilities of Mexico (ANEAS) and Honduran Association of Service Providers of Water and Sanitation. 

Water and Sewerage System of León (SAPAL) participated in the Course of management Services Companies of Water and Sanitation in Honduras in October. Nicaraguan Aqueduct and Sewer Company (ENACAL)
visited Water and Drainage Services of Monterrey (SADM ) in the WOP´s framework in December.

In May was signed the Memorandum of Understanding between Sanitation Company of Minas Gerais (COPASA) and Water and Drainage Services of Monterrey (SADM).

In July will be held the Memorandum of Understanding between the National Association of Water and Sanitation Utilities of Mexico (ANEAS) and Honduran Association of Service Providers of Water and Sanitation, in Mexico with the support of InterAmerican Development Bank (IDB).
