Training material on non-revenue water that may be useful for operators across the globe.
An interesting initiative is led by a coalition of partners, notably UNW-DPC: the water loss reduction project. The aim of the waterlossreduction.com website is to provide information and share knowledge on efficient water loss reduction from drinking water supply systems.
NRW reduction practicioners will find there Guidelines for Waterloss Reduction. The materials are meant to provide authorities from the water sector, water utilities and professional associations with all information required to understand the origin, nature and impact of water losses, to develop and implement a customised counter-strategy and to choose the most efficient methods and instruments for water loss reduction.
The overall structure of the guidelines consists of three materials (all available in English, French and Spanish)
- Introduction to the guidelines and to water loss reduction
- Understanding water losses
- Developing a technical strategy for water loss reduction
- Data and information prerequisites for water loss reduction
- Methods and instruments for water loss reduction
- Case studies
The supplementary materials shall support technicians implementing their daily work processes linked to water loss reduction. As for the other components of the guidelines, they are available in English, French and Spanish.
