The seminar, organised in the context of the COP21 conference, will be held in Paris on the 16th of October.
As the world’s population is expected to reach nine billion by 2050, more water will be needed for farming, industry and personal consumption. A recent UN report predicts that by 2050, water demand will increase by 55%, and warns that the world may face a 40% shortfall in water supplies in just 15 years.
On the eve of the COP21 Conference, this seminar intends to highlight the importance of protecting water resources for climate change mitigation.
A panel of scientific experts, institutional representatives and practitioners will explore the political and management solutions that can reconcile our growth needs with the sustainable use of water resources.
The specific contribution that public water operators can make to tackle these immense challenges will also be considered. At the end of the seminar, a compendium of APE members’ best-practices on water resource protection will be presented.
