Third training session in Morocco within tripartite cooperation programme

Developing Sub-Saharan operators’ capacity on non-revenue water and water quality through training

The tripartite cooperation between Morocco, Japan and various Sub-Saharan countries, was launched in 2014 and will continue to 2017. As part of the cooperation, training programmes have been organized at the headquarters of ONEE, the national operator of Morocco through their training institute (IAE).

The training sessions have been aimed at managers and technical staff in 5 African countries: Benin, Burkina Faso, Guinée Conakry, Mali and Niger and will involve 2 seminars and 5 training courses.

The first course focussed on ‘Management of Non-Revenue Water’ (12 June 2015), followed by a second on ‘Water Metering’ (October/November 2015). The third session took place in May 2016 and included 15 managers responsible for water provision in 5 French-speaking African countries.

Representatives from ONEE and JICA thanked participants during the closing ceremony and reiterated the importance of collaboration in efforts to ensure an efficient and sustainable management of water resources.
