GWOPA at Stockholm World Water Week 2018

World Water Week (26-31 August) is the annual focal point for the globe’s water issues.

Over 3,300 individuals from 135 countries participated in the 2017 edition, including UN-Habitat GWOPA, and this year we will once again convene and co-convene a number of sessions related to the main theme, “Water, ecosystems and human development”. 


Role of Water Utilities in SDGs and New Urban Agenda (convened by GWOPA)

This session, organized by GWOPA, will take a holistic water cycle approach to the discussion by integrating the different aspects of urban water management including gender inclusivity and mainstreaming and linking it with the needs of the urban poor and vulnerable groups. Furthermore, the session will focus specifically on the implementation of the SDG 6 and the New Urban Agenda.

GWOPA’s Breakfast with Donors [closed event] (convened by GWOPA)

GWOPA will present its new 5-year Strategy (2019-2023) to Donors and Partners participating in the World Water Week. This breakfast will be an opportunity to discuss better alignment of the WOPs practice with Donors’ strategies and funding priorities.

Using information tools on multifunctional nature-based solutions to achieve SDGs (co-convened by GWOPA)

The objective of the event is to understand how information tools need to be designed to optimize and increase the use of multifunctional nature-based solutions.

Resilient water services in an increasingly water insecure world (co-convened by GWOPA)

The interactive discussion involves inspiring practitioners and the winner of the video contest for young experts, mainly focusing on three case studies brought to you from Ethiopia, the Philippines, and Mali dealing with either too much, too little or too dirty water.
