The Third Caribbean Water Operators’ Partnerships (Cari-WOP) Pre-Conference Workshop will be held prior to the 25th Annual Conference and Exhibition of the Caribbean Water & Wastewater Association (CWWA) at Hyatt Regency Hotel #1 Wrightson Road, Port-of-Spain, Republic of Trinidad & Tobago October 23 and 24, 2016.
The theme for this year’s workshop is “Building Resilient Water Systems for the 21st Century”.
The objectives of this technical exchange include:
- Leverage and showcase the outcomes and commitments from previous CWWA pre-conference events;
- Build capacity for Caribbean utility operators and stakeholders to improve performance and service delivery, especially in response and building water security to drought;
- Share best practices and lessons learned to ensure effective planning for and response to water scarcity and drought, policies, data sharing, demand-side management and financing mechanisms to contribute to building water security; and,
- Identify catalysts and public-private partnerships to accelerate progress to water-energy-food nexus challenges.
Over 40 participants are expected at the workshop including Caribbean water utilities and professionals affiliated to the Caribbean Water and Wastewater Association (CWWA) and the Caribbean Water and Sewerage Association (CAWASA), the Global Water Operators’ Partnership Alliance (GWOPA)’s regional bodies, Cari-WOP and WOP-LAC, academia, and other regional and international development agencies.
