The EU-WOP Programme, a European Union funded initiative managed by GWOPA-UN-Habitat, is now underway. This major international WOP initiative aims at increasing access to water and sanitation services, improve operators’ capacity and performance, mobilize financial resources towards SDG6 and strengthen WOP engagement in Europe.
This session will launch the twenty-two new Water Operators’ Partnerships that have been selected for funding under this programme due to their approach and proposed contributions to the objectives. The three-year long WOP projects, involving partner utilities from European, Asia, Africa, Latin America and Arab Countries are set to begin implementation in late 2021.
The session will introduce this ambitious programme and hear how it is helping the European Union realize its commitments on the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development, the EU Green new deal and other development goals. The event will feature a sampling of the programme’s diverse partnerships.
